After about a 6-year hiatus (due to river cleanup resources & shuttle time,) this all-day adventure is making a comeback, and we can’t wait to share it with you! Whether you’re an experienced paddler or someone simply looking for a full day of nature, adventure, and fun on the water, this may be the trip you’ve been waiting for!
What is State Road 327?
State Road 327 is a 16-mile-long, exhilarating paddle along some less-explored stretches of the Pigeon River in Mongo, Indiana. Known for its curves and bends, scenic views, and natural beauty, this trip is perfect for those with some kayaking experience and a thirst for adventure. If you’re craving a full, 7-8 hour day on the water, this is your opportunity to connect with our local river in a whole new way.
A Full-Day of Adventure
The adventure begins at 8 a.m. to allow ample time for the journey. You will arrive to the main office and outpost at Trading Post, where we will shuttle you to the launch at State Road 327 and you will embark on your paddle through the unique, winding flows of the Pigeon River. During your trip, you may discover some hidden spots and panoramic views that are untouched and unspoiled. This trip kicks off with a unique, 3-mile section of river that has not been paddled regularly in years, providing a rare and serene escape into nature. Throughout your trip, keep eyes peeled for wildlife — this area is home to otters, herons, bald eagles, whitetail deer, and plenty of other creatures. After navigating this scenic 16-mile route, your trip will conclude at our riverside base at Trading Post Outfitters.

For the State Road 327 trip, we offer a range of boats to suit your preference. Choose between a single kayak, tandem kayak or canoe — whatever helps you make the most of your time on the water! The trip is great for those who want to enjoy the water at their own pace solo, or share the experience with a friend.

Available Saturdays from April-October
We are open 7 days a week from late April to early October. The State Road 327 trip will depart every Saturday throughout the season. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot early and ARRIVE EARLY. The bus will depart at 8 a.m. sharp! This isn’t just a paddle; it’s an all-day journey into the heart of the Pigeon River Fish & Wildlife Area, with plenty of opportunities for exploration, relaxation, and fun!
